Let’s meetup for A-Trak!
A-Trak: From Battle Champ to Global Beat Architect
A‑Trak (born Alain Macklovitch on March 30, 1982, in Montréal, Canada) is a pioneering DJ, turntablist, producer and label-executive whose impact spans hip-hop, electronic dance music and beyond.
At just 15 years old, A-Trak won the DMC World DJ Championship (1997), becoming the youngest and first Canadian champion. He went on to win the founding titles of DMC, ITF and Vestax, and is widely acknowledged as a turntablism legend. Transitioning into dance music, A-Trak co-founded the influential label Fool’s Gold Records in 2007, which helped launch artists like Kid Cudi and Danny Brown.
As part of the disco-house duo Duck Sauce (with Armand van Helden), he scored a global smash with “Barbra Streisand” (2010) — a track nominated for a Grammy for Best Dance Recording in 2012. Other standout solo tracks include “Heads Will Roll” (A-Trak Remix) and “Push” (feat. Andrew Wyatt), showcasing his deft fusion of hip-hop scratching and house grooves.
Among his accolades, A-Trak was inducted into Pete Tong’s Hall of Fame in 2015 and was dubbed one of the “50 Most Important People in EDM” by Rolling Stone. With a career that spans global festivals, club stages and influential label work, A-Trak continues to be a beacon for DJ-creativity, genre-blending and cultural impact.
