Wax Motif: A Pioneer of G-House
Wax Motif, born Danny Chien, is an Australian DJ and producer who has become a major figure in house and electronic dance music. Originally from Sydney and now based in Los Angeles, he emerged in the late 2000s with a distinctive sound combining house grooves with elements of hip-hop, R&B, trap and bass music. He is widely recognized as one of the key contributors to the development and popularity of the G-House movement.
Wax Motif began gaining international attention with tracks such as “Go Deep,” a collaboration with Neoteric that reached the Top 5 of Beatport’s Electro House chart, and “Hex,” his collaboration with Tommy Trash. Other notable releases include “Krush Groove,” “Fly,” “Get It All” with GTA, “Wet,” “Bunda,” “On the Low” with longstoryshort, and “Undo (Back to My Heart)” with Tinashe.
His production credits and collaborations extend to artists including Diplo, Major Lazer, Warren G, YG, Ty Dolla $ign, Deadmau5 and Destructo. His 2022 debut album, House of Wax, further established his versatility, while his 2026 release House of Wax II demonstrates his continued creative output.
Wax Motif has performed at major festivals including EDC Las Vegas, Electric Zoo and HARD Summer, and has earned industry recognition and support from leading artists across electronic music.
