Let’s meetup for RL Grime!
RL Grime: Architect of Trap’s Dark Atmospheres
Henry Steinway, known professionally as RL Grime, is an American producer and DJ whose trailblazing sound has helped define modern trap and bass music. Emerging from the Los Angeles underground in the early 2010s, he distinguished himself through deep, cinematic production, heavy drums, and moody sonic textures that bridged rap, EDM, and experimental electronic styles.
RL Grime rose to prominence with tracks and remixes like “Core,” “UCLA (feat. 24hrs),” and his bold reworks of Rihanna’s “Pour It Up” and Chief Keef’s “Love Sosa,” which became staples in the bass music world. In 2018, his sophomore studio album NOVA marked a major career milestone—landing at No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Singles like “Light Me Up” (featuring Miguel and Julia Michaels), “Undo” (with Jeremih & Tory Lanez), and “I Wanna Know” (feat. Daya) all contributed to the album’s broad reach.
In fan-voted awards, RL Grime has been repeatedly recognized: in r/EDM’s Best of 2018, he won multiple categories including Best Artist, Best Album/EP, and Best Set/Mix in the Trap genre. His annual Halloween Mixes are also deeply beloved, lauded as some of the most anticipated mixes of the year.
RL Grime continues to push boundaries, blending atmospheric depth with raw energy, and remains one of bass music’s most influential voices.
