Mike Posner: From “Cooler Than Me” to the Everest of Self-Discovery
Michael Robert Henrion Posner (born February 12, 1988 in Detroit, Michigan) is a multi-talented American singer, songwriter, producer and poet who refuses to be defined by one genre or journey. He first broke out in 2010 with the catchy hit “Cooler Than Me”, which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. His follow-up single “Please Don’t Go” also gained wide attention, charting in the U.S. and beyond.
However, Posner’s global breakthrough came in 2015 with “I Took a Pill in Ibiza”, whose remix by Seeb soared into the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 and charted in dozens of countries. That track earned him a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year and helped redefine his career.
Beyond his own work, Posner has built an impressive songwriting and production resume, co-writing for artists such as Justin Bieber (the hit “Boyfriend”), Maroon 5, and others. He has also undertaken extraordinary life journeys—including walking across America in 2019 and climbing Mount Everest in 2021—which have deeply influenced his artistry and public persona.
