Mary Droppinz: The Trailblazing Electronica Visionary
Mary Droppinz (born Alyssa Johnson) is a Los Angeles-based electronic producer and DJ, originally from Omaha, Nebraska, celebrated for her genre-defying fusion of breakbeat, bass, electro, UKG, acid, house, and drum & bass.
Her breakthrough came with singles like “Ignite,” released on Zeds Dead’s Altered States label. The track reimagines the vocal lines from Zeds Dead and Subtronics’ “Gassed Up,” layered over breakbeat-driven drums and UK-bass inspired low end. She also released the eclectic three-track EP Too Sweet via Altered States, where tracks like “Too Sweet” and “Let Me Love You” blend funk breaks, psychedelia, and soulful grooves
In 2024, Mary made her debut on HARD Recs with “GiGi,” a hypnotic and tribal breakbeat anthem featuring baile-funk percussion, chanting vocal chops, and pulsating basslines that shift between cavernous and bouncy textures.
Mary has played major stages like EDC Las Vegas, HARD Summer, Coachella, Red Rocks, and Desert Hearts, and has received support from leading artists including Skrillex, REZZ, Skream, John Summit, and Sofit Tukker. Her music is regularly featured in media outlets such as Forbes, Billboard, and EDM.com.
Rooted in her drumming upbringing (her father was a drummer) and refined through formal training at IO Academy in LA, Mary Droppinz remains dedicated to creating inclusive, high-energy sonic spaces — where her bold mixing and production style continues to challenge and uplift the electronic music landscape.
