Destroy Lonely: Atlanta’s Atmospheric Trap Innovator
Bobby Wardell Sandimanie III (born July 30, 2001), known professionally as Destroy Lonely, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia, whose moody trap and rage-rap style has made him a standout figure of the Gen Z hip-hop movement. Signed to Playboi Carti’s Opium imprint under Interscope Records, Destroy Lonely blends hazy melodies, atmospheric production, and introspective themes that resonate with a broad audience.
He first garnered attention with his 2022 mixtape No Stylist, which debuted at #91 on the Billboard 200 and featured the breakout single “NOSTYLIST”, later certified Gold by the RIAA for 500,000 units. That momentum carried into his major-label debut studio album, If Looks Could Kill (2023), which peaked at #18 on the Billboard 200 and produced the title track “if looks could kill”, also certified Gold.
In 2024 he released his second studio album, Love Lasts Forever, which debuted at #10 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart — his first release to achieve that milestone. Notable tracks from this era include “Luv 4 Ya” and collaborations with artists like Quavo and Ken Carson.
Known for merging emotive lyricism with fashion-inspired aesthetics and cloud-rap soundscapes, Destroy Lonely has also appeared on tracks with Ken Carson and continues to build his profile through both solo work and strategic collaborations.
With charting albums, Gold-certified singles, and a dedicated cult following, Destroy Lonely stands as a distinctive voice in contemporary hip-hop.
