It’s Murph: The Multi-Sensory Maestro of Dance Music
Hailing from Nashville, Garrett Murphy, known by his alias it’s murph, is making waves in the dance music scene with his euphoric melodies, gritty basslines, and expansive atmospheres. Inspired by artists like Fred Again…, Cloonee, Chris Lake, and Flume, it’s murph blends elements of tech, bass, and heavy dance to create a unique sonic experience that goes beyond mere sound.
In February of 2023, he released his debut solo single, “Food For The Soul,” which quickly garnered over 4 million streams in a month and landed on Spotify’s editorial playlists such as mint, big on the internet, and Housewerk. The track also created a viral moment on social media, placing it on the Viral 50 US chart.
Growing up in a musical household, it’s murph was exposed to various types of music from a young age. He took piano lessons and sang in the school choir. His passion for electronic music was ignited at a Porter Robinson concert in high school, leading him to start producing music. After high school, he moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California, where he fell in love with the energetic groove of house music. He began making music with friends, DJing parties, and sharing his tracks on social media.
Building on the success of “Food For The Soul,” it’s murph continues to captivate audiences with millions of views on TikTok, where he teases new music and shares live clips, including b2b sets with Dombresky, Noizu, and Dr. Fresch. With his infectious sound and growing fanbase, it’s murph is just getting started.
