Bou: A Driving Force in Modern Drum and Bass
Bou, the stage name of Mohamed Amine Bouguenna, is an Algerian-born DJ and producer based in Manchester, England, who has become one of the most recognizable names in modern drum and bass. Known for his hard-hitting jump-up sound, heavyweight basslines, sharp percussion, and explosive drops, Bou has built an international following while helping bring underground drum and bass to wider audiences.
His breakthrough came with “Poison” in 2017, a dance-floor anthem that helped establish his reputation. Other notable tracks include “Veteran VIP” with Trigga, “Streetside” with Bru-C, “Closer” with Slay, and his remix of DJ Fresh’s classic “Gold Dust.” In 2023, Bou reached a major career milestone with “Baddadan,” his collaboration with Chase & Status featuring IRAH, Flowdan, Trigga, and Takura. The track peaked at No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart and became one of the year’s defining drum-and-bass anthems.
Bou’s achievements include winning Best Producer and Best Track at the 2021 Drum & Bass Awards, with “Veteran VIP” earning recognition for its impact on the scene. “Baddadan” later won Best Track at DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards 2023, further cementing his success.
As founder of Gossip Records, Bou continues championing fresh talent while performing at major festivals including Glastonbury, Tomorrowland, and Parklife.
