Roger Sanchez: House Music’s “Release Yourself” Maestro
Born June 1, 1967, in New York City, Roger Sanchez is a Dominican-American house DJ, producer and remixer whose career has become synonymous with the global rise of house music. He first made waves in New York’s underground club scene and then exploded internationally in 2001 with the platinum-selling hit “Another Chance”, which topped charts around the world and remains a house classic.
Sanchez’s impact goes far beyond hits. In 2003, he earned a Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording with his remix of No Doubt’s “Hella Good.” He also founded his label Stealth Records in 2002 and launched his weekly radio show and podcast Release Yourself, which has garnered millions of listeners worldwide. Over his career, he’s won multiple accolades including being named Best House DJ at the DJ Awards four times (1999, 2002, 2004 and 2007).
With signature tracks like “Lost” (2006) and the enduring “Again,” Sanchez has left an indelible mark on house music. He has held summer residencies in Ibiza since 2000 and continues to headline venues and festivals internationally.
From his tribal-Latin-house roots through to modern tech-house mastery, Roger Sanchez’s name remains one of the most respected in the dance world.
