Moon Boots: Brooklyn’s Soulful House Visionary
Pete Dougherty, known by his stage name Moon Boots, is an American DJ and music producer celebrated for his soulful blend of house, disco, and other subgenres of electronic music. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1984, Dougherty grew up in Connecticut and began playing piano at a young age. His musical journey took him to Princeton University, where he studied music and later moved to Chicago, immersing himself in the city’s vibrant house music scene. After a stint in the band Hey Champ, he adopted the Moon Boots moniker and began releasing music under the French Express label.
Moon Boots’ debut album, First Landing (2017), peaked at No. 15 on the UK Dance Albums Chart and was praised for its genre-blending sound. His follow-up albums, Bimini Road (2019) and Ride Away (2023), further solidified his reputation, amassing over 100 million streams. Notable tracks include “Keep The Faith,” “I Want Your Attention,” “C.Y.S.,” “Power,” and “Sugar,” which have become staples in his live performances.
Signed to Anjunadeep, Moon Boots has performed at renowned venues and festivals worldwide, captivating audiences with his dynamic DJ sets and live performances. His music continues to resonate with fans, blending deep grooves with emotive melodies and a touch of cosmic flair.
