Tyga, born Michael Ray Stevenson on November 19, 1989, in Compton, California, is a prominent American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He gained early recognition with his debut album No Introduction (2008), but it was his 2011 collaboration “Deuces” with Chris Brown and Kevin McCall that propelled him into the mainstream, earning a Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
His 2012 album Careless World: Rise of the Last King featured the breakout hit “Rack City,” which became a club anthem and marked his first major commercial success. In 2013, Tyga released Hotel California, which included the singles “Dope” featuring Rick Ross and “For the Road” featuring Chris Brown.
In 2018, Tyga experienced a resurgence with the release of “Taste” featuring Offset, which became his first song to be certified Diamond by the RIAA in 2024. The track’s success was followed by the album Legendary, which debuted in the Top 20 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Throughout his career, Tyga has amassed over 100 chart entries on the Billboard Hot 100 and has been recognized with multiple awards, including nominations at the BET Awards and American Music Awards. His influence extends beyond music into fashion and entrepreneurship, solidifying his status as a multifaceted cultural figure.
