SVDDEN DEATH: The Unrelenting Titan of Dubstep

Daniel James Howland (born June 29, 1993), known professionally as Svdden Death, is a San Jose–born, Los Angeles–based producer who has redefined the modern bass music landscape. Launching his dubstep and riddim project in 2015, he first drew attention with tracks like “Prismatic” on Never Say Die’s Black Label and “Angel Style” (with Somnium Sound), earning praise for his raw power and precision.

His breakthrough collaboration “Sell Out” with Marshmello (2019) became a mainstream standout, peaking at No. 36 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. Other fan-favorite tracks like “Crusade” (also with Marshmello), “Savceboys”, and the festival staple “Behemoth” (and its VIP variant) consistently draw massive crowd reactions and millions of streams.

Svdden Death is also known for his darker alter‑ego VOYD, whose releases such as VOYD Vol. I and VOYD Vol. 1.5 (2018–2019) showcase his theatrical and heavier aesthetic—highlighted in live performances where he even appeared to levitate onstage at Hollywood Palladium.

In 2023, AllTime EDM named him Artist of the Year, citing his headline appearances, creative side‑projects like Masterhand, Summoning of the Eclipse festival, and hard‑hitting releases such as “Born To Suffer” and “Pursuit of Violence” (with Sullivan King). Fans regularly praise his live sound design as among the most aggressive in the genre, with one Redditor calling his “Transmutation Sequence” drop “straight up lethal.”

With over 240 million streams, sold‑out headline sets at Red Rocks, Lollapalooza, Lost Lands, and EDC, and a reputation for ground‑shaking energy, Svdden Death continues to dominate the global bass scene.
