Let’s meetup for Steve Aoki!
Steve Aoki: Global EDM Dynamo & Philanthropic Powerhouse
Steve Aoki (born November 30, 1977, in Miami, Florida) is a Japanese-American DJ, producer, label head, and cultural force who rose from college basement raves to global EDM superstardom. He founded the influential indie label Dim Mak in 1996, which has launched acts like The Chainsmokers, Bloc Party, and Zedd while serving as the foundation for his genre-crossing career.
Aoki’s hit songs span decades and styles. His debut single “I’m in the House” (with will.i.am as Zuper Blahq) broke into the UK’s Top 30 and topped dance charts. He’s best known for enormous club anthems like “Boneless” (with Chris Lake and Tujamo) and its vocal reboot “Delirious (Boneless)” featuring Kid Ink—both staples in his high-energy sets. His collaboration with Kid Cudi, “Pursuit of Happiness,” remains a defining crossover moment that blended introspective lyrics with emotive production. “Just Hold On,” with Louis Tomlinson, became his highest-charting single—peaking at #2 in the UK and earning a Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales #1 in the U.S.
Aoki’s accolades are equally vivid. Early on, he earned titles like Best Party Rocker DJ (BPM) and Best Set of the Season (Ibiza Awards) in 2007. His mix album Pillowface and His Airplane Chronicles won Billboard’s Best Mix Album of the Year in 2008. He received Grammy nominations for Wonderland and his memoir “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead.” Aoki holds Guinness World Records—among them “longest crowd cheer,” “most glow sticks in thirty seconds,” and “most traveled musician in one year” with 161 shows across 41 countries.
Off-stage, Steve Aoki is a philanthropic leader. He founded the Steve Aoki Charitable Fund and has served as a Global Ambassador for Best Buddies. EDM.com ranked him the top charitable EDM producer, and he received MTV Latin America’s Chiuku Award for his humanitarian efforts.
With electrifying festival performances, meme-worthy stage antics (especially the infamous “cake throwing”), bestsellers on the charts, record-breaking tours, and heartfelt philanthropy, Steve Aoki stands as one of EDM’s most enduring and impactful figures.
