Malaa vs Alter Ego (360° Stage) @ Exchange LA (21+)
Let’s meetup for Malaa!
Malaa: The Masked Bass House Enigma
Malaa is a mysterious Parisian DJ and producer signed to Tchami’s Confession label, notorious for his signature balaclava and genre-bending bass house, future house, and tech‑house sound. He initially burst onto the scene in 2015 with his debut track “Notorious”, the second release on Confession, which instantly set the tone for his dark, underground aesthetic.
Between 2016 and 2018, Malaa released fan-favorite tracks such as “Fade,” “Diamonds,” and “Prophecy” (with Tchami), followed by his acclaimed EP Illicit, which helped solidify his presence in the underground house world. In 2017, he teamed up with Tchami again for the No Redemption EP—featuring tracks like “Summer ’99,” “The Sermon,” and “Kurupt”—and embarked on a North American No Redemption tour with his labelmate.
An essential figure in the Pardon My French collective alongside DJ Snake, Tchami, and Mercer, Malaa has also released two Illegal Mixtape compilations that showcase his fiercely curated blends of bass house and ghetto grooves.
With standout collaborations like “Criminals” (with Rezz), “Revolt” (featuring Jacknife), and recent releases like “Ring the Alarm” and a remix of Linkin Park’s “In the End (2023),” his catalog continues to grow in scope and impact. Malaa has performed at major festivals including Coachella in 2023, and remains one of modern electronic music’s most enigmatic and influential figures.
