Let’s meetup for Jason Ross!
Jason Ross: From Trance Prodigy to Melodic Bass Innovator
Jason Elliot Ross (born February 7, 1989, in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is an acclaimed American DJ and record producer celebrated for his genre-blending fusion of trance, progressive house, and melodic bass. After early classical and jazz training, he discovered electronic music around age 12, igniting a passion that would lead to producing tracks before his teenage years.
His first release, “Nightfall,” debuted in 2013 on Mondo Records and caught the attention of Above & Beyond, who signed him in 2014 — the label’s first new artist in two years. In early acclaim, Above & Beyond praised him as their breakout talent in DJMag’s 2014 Top 100 DJs poll.
One of his breakthrough collaborations, “Atlas” with Wrechiski, premiered at Madison Square Garden during Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy 100 and later hit #1 on Beatport’s trance chart in January 2015. He later cemented his melodic bass credentials through work with Seven Lions, producing fan-favorite tracks like “Higher Love” and “Ocean.”
Ross’s debut album 1000 Faces was released on January 24, 2020 via Ophelia Records, featuring collaborations with Dabin, Runn, Dia Frampton, and Seven Lions. In 2021, his Convergence EP featured standout singles such as “One More Day” (with Blanke and Chandler Leighton) and “Wild Ones” (feat. Nevve). He also collaborated with Gryffin on the hit single “After You” (feat. Calle Lehmann), released in October 2021.
While Jason Ross has not received major mainstream awards like Grammys, his Beatport trance chart success and consistent support from industry heavyweights—Above & Beyond, Slander, Armin van Buuren, Avicii and more—underscore his respect within the electronic music sphere.
Ross has toured extensively, performing at major electronic music festivals and selling out venues like The Hollywood Palladium and Brooklyn Mirage. His guest mixes on Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy radio show and his Insomniac-backed Twitch mix shows further highlight his influence and growing audience.
With a unique ability to weave trance emotion into bass-driven soundscapes, Jason Ross continues to evolve as a pioneering force in electronic music.
