RIOT: The Progressive‑Heavy Bass Duo from L.A.
Riot is the Los Angeles–based electronic music duo of Israeli-born producers Tom Davidson and Daniel Magid. Since relocating to L.A., they’ve built a reputation fusing progressive‑melodic structures with earth‑shattering basslines—a style that’s been eagerly embraced by bass music fans and industry heavyweights alike.
Their 2019 debut album Dogma Resistance on Monstercat became a defining release, accumulating over 85 million streams and cementing their status as one of the label’s signature acts. Fan-favorite singles include “Overkill”, which topped Monstercat’s Uncaged best-of‑2018 chart, and “Wake Up” with Kayzo, which surpassed 40 million Spotify streams and became one of the most-played dubstep tracks on the platform. Their collaboration “You Don’t Even Know Me” with Slander (featured on Headbangers Ball) also cracked the top‑10 on iTunes Dance and has over 18 million plays.
In addition to originals, RIOT’s remixes for artists like Illenium, Knife Party, Infected Mushroom, and Pegboard Nerds have drawn widespread praise from peers and fans alike. As one Reddit fan put it:
“They basically recreate the dubstep world for Monstercat… dominating every single tune they’ve dropped” (Reddit, Reddit).
Though their departure from Monstercat in the early 2020s sparked rumors, the duo has continued releasing on labels such as Gud Vibrations, Deadbeats, Insomniac Records, Dim Mak, and more—continuing to push the boundaries of heavy melodic bass.
With headlining slots at EDC Las Vegas, Global Dance Festival, Beyond Wonderland, and a dedicated international fanbase dubbed “The Mob,” Riot remains one of the most dynamic and influential forces in contemporary bass music.
