2 Chainz: From Playaz Circle to Hip-Hop Powerhouse
2 Chainz (born Tauheed Epps) is an Atlanta-born rapper, songwriter, and entrepreneur known for his charismatic delivery, clever wordplay, and larger-than-life style. He first gained recognition in the early 2000s as one half of the Southern rap duo Playaz Circle, whose hit Duffle Bag Boy featuring Lil Wayne became a major club anthem.
After reinventing himself as 2 Chainz in 2011, his solo career exploded with the release of his debut album Based on a T.R.U. Story (2012). The album produced massive singles including No Lie featuring Drake and Birthday Song featuring Kanye West, both of which became chart-topping hits.
Throughout his career, 2 Chainz has delivered numerous fan favorites such as I’m Different, Watch Out, and It’s a Vibe featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Trey Songz, and Jhené Aiko.
His success has earned him multiple BET Awards, including Best Collaboration for Mercy alongside Big Sean, Pusha T, and Kanye West. With platinum albums, countless collaborations, and a strong presence in fashion, television, and business, 2 Chainz remains one of hip-hop’s most recognizable and influential voices.
