Slushii: The Neon-Toned Bass Prodigy
Julian Michael Scanlan—better known as Slushii (born May 1, 1997)—is a vibrant force in modern electronic music, celebrated for his dreamy future bass, trap-infused drops, and emotionally charged melodies. Originally performing as DJ Swoon, he rebranded as Slushii in 2016 after a SoundCloud setback, launching a career marked by heartfelt, high-energy production.
He debuted with the Monstercat single “Emptiness” and dropped his seven-track EP Brain Freeze—earning a glowing 9.2/10 score from YourEDM. In 2017, Slushii released his self-produced album Out of Light, featuring animated vocals and imaginative soundscapes that cemented his signature style.
Signature tracks like “Luv U Need U”, featured in Rocket League, added to his pop-electronic appeal, while collaborations with Marshmello—such as “Twinbow”—amplified his visibility. His 2019 pop crossover “Never Let You Go” featuring Sofía Reyes broadened his reach, and in 2020, “All I Need” became his most-streamed track to date, fueled by a viral Fortnite virtual concert release.
These songs helped earn Slushii critical and fan acclaim—he even received a Billboard Music Award nomination for Top Dance/Electronic Song for “Twinbow”. His licit versatility, genre-blending sound, and emotionally resonant productions continue to guide him forward as one of electronic music’s most kaleidoscopic young talents.
