Sota: Drum & Bass’s Jump-Up Dynamo
Tom Southon, better known by his stage name Sota, is a UK drum & bass producer and DJ who has rapidly risen through the ranks with his high-octane jump-up sound. Originally from Horsham, England, Sota’s early musical life was shaped by drumming and rock music—elements he’s since woven into his signature jump-up basslines and energetic sets.
Since bursting onto the scene in 2019, SOTA has released a string of powerful tracks — including fan favorites like “Mesmer,” “Machete,” and “Pray for Me.” His collaborations have also drawn attention, such as “Another World” with Modestep.
In 2023, Sota was awarded Best Newcomer at the Drum&BassArena Awards, marking a major milestone in his career. That year also saw him launch his first headline tour — the “State of the Art” UK tour — selling out venues in key cities, while drawing praise for his carefully curated lineups and commanding stage presence.
A defining moment in his discography came with the 2025 single “Do U Feel It Now?” released via CruCast, a track packed with his trademark intensity and booming bass.
With festival appearances under his belt — including sets at Reading & Leeds, Glastonbury, Tomorrowland, and Boomtown — SOTA is widely regarded as a leading force in drum & bass’ new generation.
