Slander: Masters of Emotional Bass
Los Angeles-based duo Slander, composed of Derek Andersen and Scott Land, have carved their place in electronic music with an emotive, genre-blurring sound often dubbed “heaven trap.” The two met at the University of California, Irvine, and later honed their craft at Icon Collective alongside future collaborator NGHTMRE.
Their breakthrough arrived with the 2015 EP Nuclear Bonds (with NGHTMRE) released on Mad Decent, featuring the fan-favorite “Gud Vibrations.” Noteworthy singles such as Love Is Gone (feat. Dylan Matthew), which earned RIAA-Gold and later Platinum certification, and All You Need To Know with Gryffin, helped heighten their mainstream visibility.
In 2020 the duo launched their own imprint, Heaven Sent, further cementing their DIY ethos and creative autonomy. Slander have sold out top venues such as Red Rocks and performed at festivals including EDC, Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival and Lollapalooza.
With over one billion streams and a strong global fan-base, Slander continue to push emotional bass music into new terrain—bridging soaring vocals, heartfelt lyrics and powerful drops.
