Chase & Status: London’s Drum & Bass Powerhouses
Chase & Status, composed of Saul “Chase” Milton and Will “Status” Kennard, are a British electronic music duo who have become synonymous with the evolution of UK drum & bass, dubstep, and cross-genre dance music. Founded in 2003, the pair first made waves with early singles like “Hurt You / Sell Me Your Soul” and “Take Me Away / Judgement (Informer)”, which topped the UK Dance Chart.
Their debut album More Than Alot (2008) won Best Album at the 2009 Drum & Bass Awards. It was followed by subsequent albums, including No More Idols (2011), which featured hit tracks like “Blind Faith”, “Count On Me”, and “Let You Go”. Over the years, their production work has extended beyond their own discography—collaborating with or producing for artists like Rihanna, Tinie Tempah, Plan B, and Becky Hill.
Recent years have brought some of their biggest mainstream successes. In 2023, their LP 2 Ruff, Vol 1 spawned Top 10 UK singles like “Baddadan” and “Liquor + Cigarettes”, while “Disconnect” with Becky Hill became another hit. Then in 2024, their collaboration with Stormzy, “Backbone”, became their first UK No. 1 single.
Their work has been honored with several awards, most notably BRIT Awards Producer of the Year in 2024. Additional recognition includes a recent Artist & Manager Team of the Year award alongside their manager Sophie Kennard. Through over two decades of boundary-pushing output, Chase & Status remain vital figures in electronic music, continually shaping and redefining the sound of UK bass culture.
