William Black (born February 7; Orange County, California) is a Los Angeles–based electronic music producer and DJ known for his deeply emotional melodic bass style. Emerging in the late 2010s, his 2018 debut EP Universe climbed to #1 on the iTunes Dance Chart, building early momentum for his music’s introspective sincerity and melodic power.
His full-length debut album Pages (2019) featured fan favorites like “Dying Day,” “Deep Blue,” “Never Be the Same,” and “Ruins,” earning high praise from melodic bass fans. One Reddit user called Pages “one of my favorite melodic artists now” and noted its “emotional builds, fantastic vocalists… basically everything I love.” The 2020 single “Back to U” with Slander became one of his biggest mainstream successes, garnering tens of millions of streams and further establishing him in the genre.
In late 2021, William released his introspective sophomore album Pieces, featuring singles like “Remedy” (feat. Annie Schindel), “Haven” (with Dia Frampton), “Broken” (with Fairlane), and “Only Reason” (feat. RØRY). The album’s emotional narrative and soaring production cemented his status as one of EDM’s most relatable songwriters.
