San Holo: Pioneering the Poetry of Electronic Feeling
Sander van Dijck (born November 26, 1990), widely known as San Holo, is a Dutch DJ, producer, musician, and composer whose emotionally resonant style blends future bass, ambient, guitar-driven melodies, and heartfelt vocals. Emerging in 2014, he captured global attention with his remix of Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode,” which has accrued over 250 million views on YouTube.
Under his own label, Bitbird (founded in 2014), San Holo released the acclaimed single “Light”, a future-bass anthem featuring ethereal vocals by Tessa Douwstra. The track climbed to #13 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic chart and earned gold certification in the U.S.
His debut studio album Album1 (2018) solidified his unique voice, debuting at #7 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart. The album earned prestigious honors: Best Dance Album at the Dutch Edison Pop Awards and Best Electronic Album at the International Dance Music Awards. Critics lauded its emotional depth and genre-defying creativity.
Beyond his music, San Holo fosters the “stay vibrant” movement—a message encouraging emotional honesty and connection among fans.
Subsequent albums, like bb u ok? (2021) and Existential Dance Music (2023), continue to explore themes of vulnerability, connection, and self-awareness through transcendent soundscapes.
Through guitar-infused composition, cinematic electronica, heartfelt lyricism, and a culture of emotional authenticity, San Holo has become a defining force in modern melodic electronic music.
