LEVEL UP: The Dubstep Queen of Skully Fury
Level Up, born Sonya Broner in Philadelphia, is an electrifying dubstep and bass music producer renowned for her nostalgic, spooky, and nostalgia-fueled soundscapes. She started her journey as a battle DJ under the mentorship of Rob Swift before turning her skills toward sonic production and heavy drops infused with video-game-inspired samples.
Her breakout EP, Scared of the Dark (2020), stormed the underground with tracks like “Scared of the Dark,” “Closet Crawlers,” and “Glass Mask”, delivered with eerie ambiance and seismic bass that earned her festival slots at Lost Lands, Electric Forest, and High Caliber.
Level Up cemented her rising legend status with memorable singles such as “Satan Works Alone,” “Ascension,” and “Ruin U” featuring GG Magree. Billboard named her Power (a collaboration with Subtronics and Grabbitz) one of the best songs of 2024. Her 2025 EP Sapphire Souls delivered neck‑craning percussion and collaborations like “Awaken” with Vastive, further solidifying her reputation for crushing sonic intensity.
She’s transported crowds at Red Rocks, EDC Las Vegas, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Lost Lands, and more, delivering curated sets full of haunting melodies and face‑ripping drops. Married to fellow bass pioneer Subtronics, she continues to build a powerful legacy in dubstep by combining technical skill, nostalgic flair, and hardcore showmanship.
