Hard Summer After Party with Crankdat @ Academy LA (21+)
Let’s meetup for Crankdat!
Crankdat: High-Octane Bass Maverick
Christian Smith, known by his stage name Crankdat, was born on March 2, 1997 in Youngstown, Ohio. A former high school discus star who declined a full-ride athletic scholarship, he pivoted to electronic music around 2015, teaching himself production and remixing smash hits like Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen”—the remix garnered over 120 million streams and earned acclaim from Skrillex and The Chainsmokers.
By 2017, Crankdat shifted to original material: tracks such as “I Hold Still” (with Jauz & Slushii) and “Dollars” established his signature fusion of melodic dubstep, trap, and bass. His August 2018 collaboration “Kneel Before Me” with SLANDER and Asking Alexandria, released on Monstercat, received widespread praise for blending rock and dubstep elements.
Crankdat released multiple EPs—Gearworld (2019), Fearworld (2019), Mechanised Mayhem (2020), and Sad Robot (2021)—touring globally on his “Gearworld” run and diving into immersive live visuals and branding.
With nearly a quarter-billion streams to date and performances at festivals such as EDC Las Vegas, Electric Forest, and a Las Vegas residency at Hakkasan, Crankdat has emerged as a force in modern bass music. His relentless innovation—from re‑cranks to original compositions—cements his status as a genre-bending trailblazer in electronic dance music.
